It's Only a Little Sin

It's only a little sin, a white lie, a little cocaine, a minor infraction,
a little gossip, etc. Maybe, you have heard this. Maybe, you have even
used this excuse.
Sin never starts off as a big thing, because we would be repulsed
by it or get sick from it, it always starts small and grows as we become
more tolerant of it.

If you put a frog, in a hot frying pan, it will immediately jump out,
but if you place a frog in a cold frying pan, and gradually turn up the
heat the frog will let you cook it.

Have you ever watched a crime story?
Have you noticed how the suspects crimes gradually escalate?

Sin, in our lives, works the same way. The rush, the adrenaline
of sin, constantly needs more. Sin almost always starts off small.
The Jeffrey Dahmer's of the world, start with torturing animals, long
before they start torturing people. The Madoffs of the world, start
with small swindles before they go for the big score.
Sin always starts small. A little drink, never hurt anyone. A little
gossip is OK. A little pain never hurts. I'll just steal a little, they will
never notice, besides they have more than they need.
For alcoholics and drug addicts, it is called chasing the high. The
rush, the high, the euphoria of the first time, takes more and more
drugs and alcohol to attain, every time after that.
Gossip and lying carry their own rush, their own high, as we tell
something bad about someone else. Their trouble, makes us feel better
about ourselves, for a little while. In order to get that feeling again,
we have to gossip more, tell more lies, without getting caught.

For most sin, the real rush, the real high, is not getting caught. The
more we can get away with, the greater the rush, the greater the high.
Satan, allows us to think we are getting away with something, because
man doesn't know, or at least we think, man doesn't know our sin, until
our sin is out of control.
That's the other big lie, we are in control. The truth is, we choose our
master. We choose who we want to control our lives. Satan will take
us down, if we let him, to the most depraved and corrupt of places. Our
minds, can not even imagine, the roads Satan will take us down, as he
takes more and more control of our lives.
We even start to believe that we can fool God, but in the end, it is
us, you and I, that are the fools.

God, our Heavenly Father, knows what is best for us. He loves us.
God will never try and fool us or lie to us. He tells us in His Word.

"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life"

                Choose your Master! Choose wisely!
