This Christian walk is not about where we start, it's about where we
end up. All of us have a different starting point in life, we might be born
in the back of a car, on a dirt floor, in the streets, if we are lucky, in a
hospital.
We may come from broken homes, foster homes, no home, an
orphanage. We may have been born to alcoholics, drug addicts,
workaholics, or welfare recipients.
We may have white, black, yellow, brown, red or any variation or
color combination of skin colors that you can come up with. These are
all just a place to start.
None, and I mean none, of these things define us, unless we let them.
We get the privilege of making choices in this life. If we choose to be
defined by our beginnings, that is our choice. If we choose to better
ourselves, that is also our choice.
No one can decide for us!
More important than our beginning, is our journey to where we end
up in life. We may choose to live, just for ourselves, make all the money
that we can and the heck with the rest of the world. The result will be,
we will die alone, never knowing what it felt like to be really loved
because we never took the time to love.
We may choose to live a care free life, with all the drugs and alcohol
that we can put into our bodies. The result will be, a life where you can't
trust anyone. Fear begins to take over your life, as you fall deeper and
deeper into your addictions, and you begin to question your existence,
and just want to end it all.
Remember we get to choose how we live, God gave that choice to
us. No one else gets to choose for me, not even God. I choose!
Jesus Christ came into this world to show us how to live. He showed
us how to love, and how to receive love. Jesus told us, " No greater
love, has any man, than to lay down his life for a friend." Then Jesus
did just that, as He laid down His life for us.
On the first day of the week, after his death on the cross, Jesus rose
from the dead. He calls out to each of us, I loved you so much that I
gave all that I had, just for you, just for you.
Jesus asks us today, just like He asked Peter, after Christ's death,
burial and resurrection, Peter, do you love me? Do you love me?
It's not about where we start, it's about where we end up.
Jesus said, "Behold I stand at the door and knock, and if any man
will let me in, I will come in and sup with him."
Jesus is looking straight at you, eyes to eyes, and asking,
