Have you ever been dumb founded, couldn't think of anything
to say. You stare at someone, open your mouth and nothing comes
out.
Usually this condition happens when your emotions go on over
load. The brain, the senses, the emotions all become vapor locked.
When this happens to us spiritually, we get to witness the Holy
Spirit in all His Glory. We have no idea of what to say or what to
do and we are forced to shut up and let the Spirit take over.
Maybe we are witnessing on the street and we encounter a
problem that we have never been faced with. At first the butterflies
in our stomach start fluttering at full force, then out of nowhere, a
peace overwhelms us and we hear ourselves talking. We know that
it is us talking, because we recognize the voice. What we hear are
not our words, the reaction that we see is astounding because we
are witnessing the Holy Spirit doing a great work. We have allowed
The Spirit to speak through us and for us.
We read about this in Acts on the Day of Pentecost, The Holy
Spirit filled the upper room and all those that were gathered there,
were filled with The Spirit of God. They all came out of the upper
room and Peter began to speak. The words, that Peter spoke, were
not the words of an uneducated fisherman. There was no timidness
in Peter's speech, in fact Peter spoke with authority and conviction.
We see this again as Steven speaks before The Sanhedrin. Steven
stands before The Supreme Court of Judaism and recites to them all
of their history, the good, the bad , and the ugly of all that Israel has
done. These powerful men, used to having people quake in their
midst, are astounded and angered by the knowledge and the peace
with which Steven delivers the message of their failures as a nation.
Then they take Steven out and stone him, and Steven has the audacity
to ask God to forgive those that stone him.
I pray that when we talk to others, that we are wise enough to step
out of the way when The Holy Spirit takes over. The Holy Spirit can
take the hardest of hearts, and melt it like butter on a hot day.
The Holy Spirit can take the hardened life of a criminal and make
them weep like a little baby.
The Holy Spirit can heal the broken, as He mends them from the
inside out and puts all the pieces back together.
It is not about you or I, it is about us emptying ourselves and
Letting The Spirit take Control of All We Do
