Out of Mind

There is an old saying, out of sight out of mind. This saying has been
around for many years but still rings true today. People, if they don't see
something or read something, tend to forget about it.
When we lose an actor or a athlete to drugs or suicide, we take notice
and yet, these are an everyday occurrence that you and I can help with.
If you know of someone that is addicted to anything, love them enough
say something. Offer to go to a meeting with them. Sometimes it just takes
a loving nudge to get them to seek help.
Be aware of those around you, there are usually signs of depression, well
before someone takes their lives. We read about friends and family members
that knew something was wrong, and regretted not saying something or
helping them get help.
We have so much violence in our society that murder and rape are not
always newsworthy. In our larger cities like Chicago, New York, and L.A.,
the murder rate is higher than the days in a year. With those numbers, rape
and other violent crimes are also on the rise. These numbers can be linked
to children being raised in broken homes. As our homes become more
fractured, our crime rates climb. Children need that stability that comes
with a loving home. Sadly our Christian homes are just as fractured as the
rest of society.
Christians need to be active in their communities. We hold the key to fix
the worlds struggles, that key is Jesus Christ. The more we can lead others
to Jesus Christ, the better our community becomes. We need to be that light
on the hill, calling out to those that have lost their way. Christians need
to be known by their community, by their neighbors.
For far to long, we have blended ourselves into society, instead of
attracting others to the Christian Life. The church in Acts was active
on a daily basis. Their activity and enthusiasm drew others into the church.
When a crisis arose, they prayed for boldness, to keep preaching the Word.
Join me, and many others, as we pray for a Revival not only here in
the U.S. but around the world. We, as the Body of Christ, need to be bold
in our speech and our actions for our Lord and Savior. Jesus said, "If I be
lifted up, I will draw all men unto me." Jesus is waiting on us.
