How Far?

How far will you go before you stop?
I've been thinking lately about sin in our lives. It never overwhelms us,
in fact we invite it in. As we get used to and comfortable with that one
little sin, another gets introduced into our lives. This process keeps going
on, until we through Jesus Christ stop it.
I'm reminded of a story Jesus told of going out in search of a lost sheep.
I'm sure the sheep didn't intentionally wander off, but probably started
grazing away from the flock. Finding the grass green and luscious, the
sheep kept grazing and eating without realizing it had wandered off from
the flock.
When the shepherd called to the sheep, the lost sheep couldn't hear him,
because he was to far away.
We get that way sometimes, we don't mean to, but we start with a little
sin in our lives, just for fun. Then the next thing you know, like The Prodigal
Son, we find ourselves in the pig slop of sin.
Satan is very patient, in fact he waits for us, he entices us. We, because
we are human, will try and balance our sin and our walk with Christ. This
will last for a little while, but it is impossible to continually walk a fence.
We will fall. We will either fall into the arms of Christ or we will fall into
deeper and deeper sin.
When we fall into deeper and deeper sin, it becomes harder and harder,
to hear the Master's call. If we are lucky, we come to our senses and start
the journey back towards Christ. The sad part is, the more we play these
games with sin, it becomes harder and harder to find our way back into
the arms of Christ.
For some, when it becomes to hard, they give up finding Christ again.
They wander away, never to return.
When will we learn that sin isn't a game. It is not a toy to have fun with,
but actually a trap, from which it becomes more and more difficult to climb
out of.
Where is your line for sin?
How far will you go before you stop?
