True love, is all around us, and yet most of us would never recognize
it. Sometimes love falls into that romanticized love between a man
and a woman, where they fall head over heels in love. This is very rare,
and when it happens, we try really hard not to mess it up.
Most of the time, true love, falls into the categories of honesty and
commitment towards those you love. This is never more true, than when
we talk about marriage. As most married couples will attest, they love
each other, but there are times that they can't stand each other. True
love steps into this gap between couples, and continually draws them
back into each others arms.
The honesty and commitment that is needed for true love, is not of
this world. The world calls this chasm unreconcilable differences, but
in reality true love, built on a foundation of Jesus Christ, can and will
fill this chasm with love.
Only with commitment will the time be spent to bring love back into
a relationship. There will be times that honesty will hurt those that we
love, because quite honestly, the truth hurts.
When the truth hurts us, it is up to each one of us, how we react. Our
natural man or woman, wants to retaliate and hurt back. Our nature is
to be defensive, but true love helps us to understand that if others didn't
love us, they wouldn't care.
When we look at ourselves honestly, we become accustomed to our
faults, and don't see them anymore. We have put blinders on, when it
comes to ourselves.
True love, helps us to take our blinders off, and look at ourselves
through the eyes of others. It becomes easier to do this, when the one
taking our blinders off, is the one we love. We can look into the eyes
of the one that loves us, and see the love.
This is true whether we look into the eyes of our spouse on this earth,
or the eyes of The Church's spouse Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
