Perfection in something, whether it is life or a sport, is something to
strive for but never attained. We may get close sometimes, to a perfect
game, or a perfect day, but to sustain that perfection, day after day, is
an impossibility.
You hear about baseball pitchers that pitch a perfect game, 27 batters
up and 27 batters out. You hear of bowlers that bowl a 300 game, 12
strikes in a row. These all make news, because of the rarity of their
occurrences.
We've talked to friends that have had perfect vacations, or a perfect
day. They are so joyful to talk about it, simply because they are the
exception and not the norm.
As Christians, we struggle with perfection, because perfection, Jesus
Christ, is who we strive to be like. We will find ourselves lacking in
many areas of our lives. We know that perfection is unattainable, and
yet we beat ourselves up because we are not perfect. This attitude, this
battle for perfection, can keep us from doing God's Will for our lives.
Paul, talks about this battle, he talks about the things that he wants
to do, that he doesn't do. Then he talks about the things that he doesn't
want to do, that he finds himself doing. Paul, strived to never let this
battle, this struggle keep him from doing God's Work.
We must take a lesson from Paul! We must not let this battle for
perfection, consume us. Satan would like nothing more, than this
struggle to be Christ like, to consume our time and keep us from
telling others about Christ.
We have to free our minds, and realize that in God's eyes we are
perfect, because God sees us through the Blood of the Perfect,
Jesus Christ. We are set free by this blood, we are also set apart by
this blood to do God's bidding. We are God's tools, He will sharpen
us, He will forge us, He will lead us, if we focus on Him, instead of
worrying about our imperfections.
