I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up

I've fallen and I can't get up, we have all heard this commercial for years.
Older people fall and they have difficulty getting up, some of them even die
because nobody checks on them on a regular basis.
As sinners saved by grace, we often fall into sin, most of the time we need
help to get back on the right track. Satan puts stumbling blocks in our path
everyday, you might say, it's his job. If Satan can get us to stumble, then it will
not take much to get us down. We are excellent at beating ourselves up when
we fall.
While god is always willing to help us when we fall, most of the time He
uses other people to help us get back on our feet. These people have to be
willing and listening to the will of God. As always we can choose not to listen
to God's call.
The Good Samaritan is a prime example of listening for the call of God.
Two religious people have already walked past this injured man and done
nothing to help him. Then a good Samaritan comes and help the wounded man
to get to a safe place and pays for the wounded man's care.
God call us to help, but much like the religious leaders in the story, we can't be
bothered with helping this sinner. We are either not listening to God's call or we
have told God no, and He continues to ask others to help, until God finds
someone who will help.
As a recovering addict, I struggled for years, without someone coming to my
aid. I was calling out to God to help, but I admit I kept up appearances of being
alright to those around me. I have no doubt that God heard my prayers, I have
no doubt that God tried to send me help.
The help finally came, but it was years after I initially asked God for help.
I don't blame that on God. I blame it on myself, but I also understand that
God was trying to send me help. I am guessing some like the religious leaders
in the story, turned and walked away.
We, as Christians are not only to listen to God's call, but to act on it.
There is a big difference in the two.
