How The News Affects You!

How the news affects you, is a common problem in this day and time. You
aren't sure whether it's actually the news or just sound bites to promote a agenda.
The news used to be more straight forward, you could listen to Walter Cronkite,
Huntley and Brinkley, or any other news cast and get the same news. That is
not the case anymore, you have to listen to various newscasts, just to figure out
the current news of the day.
I am sad to say, this is true of Christianity in this day and age. We have
stopped reading the Bible, and rely on the sound bites we get on Sundays and
Wednesdays to get our beliefs. I admit reading the Bible takes time and effort,
something our society has very little time for.
The Bible, God's Holy Word, is not hard to understand, my grandmother
with her 6th grade education could understand it. God's word is for everyone,
for the intellectual as well as the little children. The very simplicity of it is
astounding and masterful in it's make-up.
The Bible does not need the help of commentaries or Drs. of Divinity to
tell others of God's worth to man. In fact reading all these other books to try
and figure out what God and Jesus are trying to tell us, is the biggest
catastrophe of all. As Christians we talk about the extra books in the Mormon
and Jehovah Witnesses religion, but are we any different. I know of many
Biblical teachers that spend more time preparing a lesson in different
commentaries and different sermon reference books than they do in scripture.
Isn't that the same thing that Jesus ridiculed the Sadducees and the Pharisees
over. They knew the Rabbinical teachings better than they knew the Word
of God.
The Holy Spirit was sent to help us know and understand God's Word. We
need to be diligent in our search of God's Word, so that the truth may be
revealed to us by The Holy Spirit. God has a different plan for each one of
our lives. The Holy Spirit will lead us to our calling, if we are willing and
study God's Word. If we are spending more time in someone else's writings
our leaning will be towards that person more than God.
We are not perfect, no human is. Isn't it better to rely on God's inspired
Word. Or would you rather get your news from a human source.
