It's my life, what a simple statement. We hear it all the time, but think
of the many ways we hear it.
It's my life, and I'll do what I want. There isn't a parent that at some
point hasn't heard this from their teenager or young adult children. Usually
in anger, because they couldn't do something. Parents re-act in various
ways to this statement. Some hear it and give in, their children expecting
them to cave. Others re-act in anger back at the child. This is my house
and if you want to live here you will do as I say.
The Father of the Prodigal Son allowed his child to leave under the
of terms. The child couldn't hold any animosity towards the Father
because the child did what he wanted, even after the Father told him
the pitfalls of life. That is the way God treats us, He allows us to do
whatever we choose, but God's Word tells us the pitfalls of our decisions.
It's my life, can also be said as a resigned statement of fact. Spouses
of ill, handicapped, or elderly individuals become the taxi, chief cook
and bottle washer, nurse, and conservator. They become resigned to the
fact that their life is no longer their own, but controlled by someone
else's needs and wants.
It's my life, can also be a statement of glee. Some people are thrilled
with their life, job friends, life in general. They bring a smile and a joy
to everyone they touch. It's my life, it's what I do, is usually expressed
by those that are encouragers, those that push us to do the impossible.
The great inventors of the world, had people like this around them,
re-assuring them that they could do it. We all need that push sometimes.
How we approach life, will have a great impact on how we live our
lives. It's My Life, can take on very different meanings, with very
different results.
It's my life, can be taken as selfish, or as a servant to God like Pau
How do you live out, It's My Life, that is most important?
