What This Holiday Weekend Means To ME

Another July 4th, weekend, another chance to celebrate, not the ending, but the
beginning of a war for freedom. The 4th was the day that we not only signed The
Declaration of Independence, but the day that these colonies decided to declare war
on the greatest military power of the 1700's.
This war would be over Taxes and Freedom and Liberty. It seems this battle is
never over about Taxes and Freedom and Liberty. July 4th meant 3 month before
England could get battle ships and soldiers to This New United States of America.
Instilled in me is a great since of pride, for all that America once so proudly
stood for. The United States had pride, we had a will to win, and as a military force,
we never lost. No one wanted to tangle with the U.S. of A.
Then strange things began to happen, we didn't go to war, with North Korea,
we were in a conflict, a police action, with North Korea. New rules to play by, that
put our fighting forces in danger, as we fought, not to win but to hold a line.
My Dad fought in The Korean War, I refuse to call it a police action, or conflict.
As far as I'm concerned, if our men's lives are on the line, its war.
Did we learn our lesson? No we listened to the U.N. again and sent men and
women to Vietnam to give life and limb, not to win, but to hold a line. I had friends
die in Vietnam.
I have problems with Washington D.C. putting people I love and care about on,
the line. It's one thing to go into a war to win, but it's not worth one soldiers life to
just hold a line. That's like watching football, for 4 hrs., no score because both
teams are just trying to hold the 50 yrd. line.
My Dad and both of his brothers went into the service for our country, I had
an uncle on my moms side that retired from the service. My mom's Dad tried to
fight in WWI, by signing his own enlistment papers at the age of 14.
I come from a family that deeply respects our military personnel. We understand
the sacrifices of service life. I tear up singing the Star Bangled Banner, with my
hand proudly over my heart. I get angry seeing how these people that terrorize us
get treated, when our service men would be stoned or beheaded in the terrorists
country.
This weekend, let's find that pride and the we can't lose attitude again. Let's pray
for our military personnel. Let's cry together while listening to music like God
Bless the U.S.A. or A Soldiers Song, maybe go old school and listen to the
Green Beret Song. Some how we need to get our American pride back, and
send people to our government offices that feel the same.

                  May God Bless The U.S.A.
