we don't call it doubt is OK? When we pray for anything and then fret about, get
anxious about it, let's be honest worry about it, aren't we doubting God.
If we ask God, isn't He going to answer. If we asked our dad for something,
didn't he always answer. We may not like the answer, but then that's not what we
are talking about here. The Bible tells us that God knows our every thought. God
knows, what we are going to ask, before we ask it. He likes to hear our voice, when
we communicate with Him.
Is to beg God for something, over and over, isn't that doubting Him? Do we think
He didn't hear us the first time? Are we like the prophets of Baal, that Elijah made a
mockery of, maybe your god is on a journey or asleep and needs to be woke up?
To doubt, no matter what you call it, is like a ship tossed to and fro by the wind
and the waves, as James says. To doubt is to allow Satan into our prayer life, into
our belief in God. Into our faith, because doubting is not believing in God for an
answer. Satan, is mocking Christians, the same way that Elijah mocked the prophets
of Baal.
Let me give you a Biblical observation, and I beg you, I plead with you, please
check out what I am about to say. Jesus, only went back and prayed for the same
thing once in scripture. He knew that His time had come to die, and Jesus prayed
three times to His Father, that He didn't have to go through all the suffering and
death on the cross. Jesus, when praying for Himself, for His Life, went back to the
Father three times. This is also the only time Jesus, praying for Himself, asked that
the Father's will be done. Just as in the Lord's Prayer we are supposed to pray for
God's will to be done in our lives.
Every other time, Jesus prayed once for something to happen, And It Happened.
The Apostles only prayed once and things happened.
I don't see that they prayed for God's will to be done, they just prayed for God
to be glorified in what was about to happen. Lazarus come forth, notice there was
no God's will be done, spoken.
Peter in Acts told the lame man at the temple, "Silver and gold have I none, but
I will give you what I have. In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth get up and
walk", and the lame man got up and walked. Once again there was no God's will
be done, spoken.
This is my personal belief, I think Christians ask for God's will to be done as a
cop-out, in case the miracle they are praying for doesn't happen. That way they can
say it was God's will and not be blamed for a lack of faith, on why the miracle didn't
happen.
We aren't told what Paul and Silas prayed for after being beaten and thrown in
stockades in a cell. Just speculation, but I bet they prayed once for God's deliverance
and started singing hymns, waiting on God's answer.
The faith equal to the smallest seed known to man, will allow a Christian to move
a mountain according to Jesus. Satan can steal that little bit of faith with doubt.
I have done this a few times in my Christian walk with Christ. I challenge you
to keep a prayer diary. Pray for something, and write it down in a book. Do not
pray for the same thing over and over, trust God to have heard you the first time.
Leave room between your prayer request to write down when and how God
answered it.
Send me your results, I would like to thank God for your answered prayers, in
my praises to God also. You can leave me a comment on this blog.
