Each day brings something new that God wants us to learn. Sometimes
the lesson is small and doesn't hurt to much. Sometimes it is painful as
we learn to turn all our burdens over to God.
Our prayer life is a reflection of our growth in Christ. If our prayers are
always about me and my family, I'm a pretty immature Christian. If I've
progressed to praying for others and myself, I've made some progress
into maturity.
The mature Christian prays for God's testing. Pray for patience, God
sends trials, to test that patience. Pray for a more loving heart, God will
send you people, that you wouldn't normally associate with to love.
Pray for a chance to witness, and doors will open up in front of you
to witness, it's up to you to step through the door. Pray for growth,
and God will send you people to help grow in Christ.
As we mature in Christ, all of us becomes a tool for Christ. Our
body becomes His to use as a tool for God's ministry. Our mind will
be filled with scriptural knowledge, as we study the Bible. Our Spirit
becomes aligned with God's Spirit, and we stay plugged into our
Power Source. Our soul, is set free to do God's work, because the
cares of this world, become secondary to God's will for our lives.
Think of how free we would be, if death was not a worry for us. If
eternal life was promised to us, death would have no power over us.
God could ask us to do anything, including putting our lives on the
line for Him, and we could do it without fear. God could ask us to go
anywhere for Him, and we would, because God's work is our ultimate
work.
These promises have all ready been made to us, but the pull of the
world on our lives, leaves us to be pulled in two directions. Jesus tells
us to leave it all behind, much like the rich young ruler. Do we follow
Jesus? or Do we turn sadly, and walk away, because we have much?
