They never had to put up with what we do.
The BIBLE doesn't deal with sexual addiction, that's a new addiction.
I don't see where alcoholism or food addictions or drug addictions are written
about in the BIBLE.
REALLY???
Let me guess, you think the first time David stepped out on his terrace, to watch
the women bath on their rooftops was when Bathsheba was on hers.
Being a former sexual addict, I can tell you there is a progression to adultery. It
starts with the eyes, plays with the brain until it becomes an obsession, then the act
of adultery. So in my opinion, David was out on his terrace for a reason.
The new testament tells us not to be drunkards, that would mean there were some
in the church who were drunkards or in modern terms alcoholics.
Don't be gluttonous, would indicate that there were over eaters in the church.
Any addiction is about an inner pain that we try to self medicate. A need, notice
I didn't say want, a need that has not been met. For instance love is missing in your
life, you've suffered a great loss, you're lonely, inner turmoil, you are suffering
from mental or physical pain.
We, addicts, don't want to deal with our hurts, our habits, we want something to
make it better. We don't want to put in the work, suffer through the therapy to
make us better. Doc give me a pill, so I can forget about it for a little while. WOW
if one pill makes me fill that good what will 2 or 4 or 10 make me fill like. I'm not
addicted really, all together now, I can quit anytime I want to, I just don't want to!
Celebrate Recovery, AA, Al-Anon, Counselors, Doctors, Priests, Psychiatrists,
and there are many more people and organizations that can help.
Trust me, the best years of my life happened after I could wake up every morning
and truly love the person looking back at me in the mirror.
