and non-christians alike. There always seems to be more question than answers.
This also happens, but to a much greater degree, when a Christian and
non-christian get into a conversation about God and everything that concerns
faith and belief in God.
We, as Christians, are supposed to study God's Word, religiously.(pun intended)
but most of us have dust on, not only our Bibles but on our knowledge of God's
Word. We are neither equipped or prepared for the questions that are presented
to us, as we live out The Great Commission.
Don't get me wrong, even the most experienced street evangelist, will
occasionally, have to do further study to either come up with an answer or say
simply I don't know. Honesty is always the best policy. In other words, if you
don't know, say so!
I have found that most Christians I talk with, don't have a clue about the basic
steps needed to lead someone to Christ. My advice, if you don't know, find
someone to mentor you. Jesus mentored His Disciples, His Disciples mentored
others, and they in turn mentored others, etc.
This has become one of modern churches greatest downfalls. We have
forgotten how to talk to people. Look at the use of electronics around you.
Of course that means you will have to put yours away to observe!
Two people having dinner together, they look at their phones, more than
they look at each other. We have all seen the videos of people texting and
falling into fountains or knocking over shelves, but that doesn't help us to
put our electronics away.
When we call on people for Jesus Christ, there can be no distractions on our
part. Other people have to be our total focus, that gives them, the people we are
talking to, an importance above ourselves. Our focus is totally devoted to them
and their questions.
The lost art of eye to eye contact, is of the greatest importance. These people
need to see us as Jesus Christ's Ambassadors. They deserve our utmost respect.
Please, wipe the dust off your Bible. Increase and refresh your knowledge of
God's Word. Then most importantly, use your God Given talents to show others
the way of salvation, through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
