Love

Love is one of the most over used words in the English language. We use it for
cars, candy, ice cream, movie stars, artists, music, and I could go on for a very long
time before I ever repeated myself.
This over use of the word love, has deadened our senses to what love really
means. I can understand why the Greeks had different kinds of love, in their very
descriptive language. We have exchanged love for like, in our day and age.
Our modern society is filled with these exaggerations, I'd die for a chance to drive
that car. I'd die to go out with______.
    Would you really?
Love is caring about someones well being, more than you care about yourself. We
see examples of this everyday, if we open our eyes to it. The husband that loses
sleep and drives all over town, to take care of a pregnant wife's craving. A sibling
that donates a kidney, so that their brother or sister can live. A first responder that
puts their lives in danger, to protect a perfect stranger.
Jesus tells us about love. Love the Lord, your God, with all of your heart, strength,
soul, and mind. Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
Love is not a feeling, that comes and goes like the tide.
Love is more than an emotion.
Love is the ember that burns inside of us, even when we aren't getting along with
our spouse. Love is the patience to wait, knowing that the ember will turn into a
flame, once again.
Love is unconditional, we love our children the same, regardless of the
circumstances.
Love was shown to us by Jesus Christ as He cried for Jerusalem, as He showed
compassion and healing to those that were outcasts to society. Jesus showed His
love for us, by all that He endured, so that we would't have to.
No greater love can be shown, than to give your life for a friend, and yet Jesus
gave His life for friends and those that would never accept Him.
Love is the powerful force on earth, it can move mountains, it can turn a hulk
of a man into mush, it can embrace those that are hurting. It can be as simple as a
smile or it can save lives even after death by donating organs.
We can never receive so much love, that we don't crave more. We also can never
give out so much love, that we have no more to give. Love is Eternal!
