I Am Thankful

    I am thankful for all the love that has been shared with me. I realize
that to show love to others means giving up some of your own wants
and desires.
    God is our prime example of love. It would have been very easy to
destroy His creation and start over, but instead He decided to show us
how much He loved us by sending His Son to live, die, and be
resurrected for us. To add to that love, He sent His Holy Spirit to dwell
in us, as Christians.
    I am thankful for my parents, though they are with God now, they
helped me to grow onto the man I am today. Through good times and
bad times, I was always lucky enough to have their love and their faith
in God passed down to me. One of my greatest examples deals with
baseball. My dad always took the time to play catch with me daily and
my mom, who hated sports, would root so hard for my team that an
ump threatened to kick her out of the Little League stands.
    I am thankful for my wife, who even before we dated, showed me
how to love strangers. She also shows me daily, the love, that only
comes from someone who knows me, inside and out. She loves me
enough to tell me when I'm wrong and enough to back me when I'm
right.
    I am thankful for my in-laws, that are very much a part of my family.
through good times and bad, they have always acted like my other mom,
dad, brother, aunts and uncles, cousins,etc.
    I am thankful for my church family. My wife and I have been a part of
a few churches, as well as singing in a lot of smaller churches. These
relationships, with fellow Christians, helped me become the Christian
that God wants me to be.
    I am thankful for my friends, both near, far, and gone. They have helped
round out my life, and have provided both laughter and shoulders to cry
on.
    My list could go on and on, and it does in my prayers.
    Take the time today to pray a prayer of thanksgiving. We have so much
to be thankful for. Maybe like George Burns, you can start off with
you opened your eyes to a new day.
