God and Politics

I have always found it interesting when Liberals, Conservatives, and
all the views in between, try and claim Jesus and His teachings.
God is God, He will not be constrained or boxed in by any organization
or group, including religious denominations. Any time we start to pick
and choose scriptures to prove our point of view, aren't we choosing our
point of view over God and His teachings.
Liberals claim Jesus because of His compassion for the poor and the
down trodden and yet you never read of Jesus giving money to any of
these people. His compassion was in His healing and in His teachings.
Conservatives claim God because of capital punishment and the law
and justice that is taught in both the Old and New Testament.
Everything politically in between, has been used to prove various
political leanings, simply because The Godhead is a valuable selling
point, even in our day and age.
If churches can divide or worse yet split over different interpretations
of scripture, is it any wonder that the secular world is divided about
scripture and its meaning.
Jesus, because of His divine knowledge and temperament could talk
to anyone and have them understand. Jesus could associate with the
intellectuals and elitists of his day, and communicate and astound them
with His grasp of scripture and its meaning.
Jesus, could also, talk to the poor and unlearned of his time and put
complex subjects into such simple terms that all could understand.
I believe it is our job, as Christians, much like Paul, to be able to
communicate with people on all levels of understanding, and all levels
of income.
I believe it is important for us, as Christians, to be able to spread the
Gospel to the liberal, conservative, Catholic, Protestant and all people,
regardless of their political or religious views.
Does this mean we change our beliefs? NO
It does mean that we have to be able to talk to people in a way that
they can understand.
That takes study and dedication from us, His Followers!
