God Was There

When anyone goes to a Christian conference or retreat, there are three things
you pray for: God to make His presence known in a special way, the people
are fun to be with, and good food. All of that criteria and more was present
at our weekend men's retreat.
God let His presence be known, from the very first lesson to the last, God
had our attention. We watched the video series called "Not a Fan" For me, who
has been a Christian for 50 years, it was a reminder of the roller coaster, we call
life.
The series takes you from a near death, to a life changing experience from
a fan of Christ to a true follower of Christ, and the sacrifices that come with
that decision.
Living daily, as Jesus lived is both the toughest road to take, and the most
rewarding, as you are in, on the action of Christianity, instead of sitting on the
sidelines
There were tears shed, as I realized, how short I fall on a daily basis, as I
am an injured soul. My secret sins, your secret sins, keep us on the sidelines
as fans cheering for good to win out over evil. That is completely different from
telling the world and Satan, I am a follower of Jesus Christ. The Devil may
knock me down, but my Savior and Healer is more powerful than the attacks
of Satan.
To spend a weekend with fellow Christians, and to be able to cry, laugh, talk
and pray with these men, was a great experience.
After taking care of our souls daily, the kitchen staff filled our bodies up with
a 5 star meal. My compliments to the kitchen staff.
The weekend was one of the best experiences that I have been a part of.
Hopefully, we will have more Bakersfield men join us next time.
All ways remember, you've got to count the cost, if your going to be a believer.
You've got to know the price is one you can afford.
