The Long Road Home

The long road home, seems like a very slow trip. I know from driving
truck, that everything moves pretty fast, until you pick-up that load that
will take you home. The run towards home, can never be done fast
enough.
As a Christian, I feel the same way, time flies by while your young.
Then as you begin to age, and those aches and pains start to take over,
you begin to see, just how long this journey is.
Everyday here on earth becomes more precious as we watch our
children grow and mature into adults. Then they find that special
person, that they want to spend the rest of their life with. Then along
comes grand-children, and the process starts all over again.
I have been with many friends that have passed away. The body
is an amazing machine, that struggles for every breath, every heart
beat, until God calls us home.
The struggles at the end of life seem to take forever, and then your
friend and loved ones are just gone. For us, the living, all we have are
memories and a grave site.
For the Christian that has gone home, eternal life begins with Jesus,
our Lord and Savior. I always picture giant welcome home parties, as
each saint comes home. Friends and family are re-united, and as the
party goes on and on, more and more family come home to join in.
Our long road home, will be worth it all, when we see Jesus and
He welcomes us home.
