God never promised us a bed of rose pedals, God knew that roses had thorns and life
on this earth would be filled with the beauty of a rose and the pain of the thorns.
Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount, used a term that most translations interpret as
blessed, but another interpretation of the Greek is happy.
Happy are the poor in spirit.
Happy are those that mourn.
Happy are the meek.
Next time you read the New Testament, read happy instead of blessed, it gives
Christians, a whole different perspective of, what Jesus is trying to tell us.
Blessed (Holy, consecrated) has a totally different feel to it, a different tone than,
happy (jolly, merry). Paul and Silas, after being beaten and thrown into stockades
were happy to have suffered for Jesus Christ's sake, so happy that they broke out
in song. I can't picture Paul and Silas singing dirges and converting anyone. They
were most likely singing with joy in their hearts.
We, have forgotten that persecution for righteousness' sake, should make us, happy.
Christians, especially those of us in the U.S.A., have forgotten that our happiness is
found, in our hunger and thirst for righteousness.
Satan, has very slowly, deadened our senses. Things that would never be seen on
T.V. in the 60's, are now, not even questioned. We have allowed ourselves to settle
for a mediocre brand of Christianity. Is it any wonder that, we are not blest and
not happy.
Speaking for myself, I pray for a Revival of our happiness, our being blessed to
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We need to get back to being.
