The Present

The present is where every Christian is supposed to live. We can't fix the
past, though we can be forgiven for it. We can't live in the future, because
we are not in control of it. We can only control our choices, in the present.
God, deals with us in the present, though He knows what our future
holds. God, called Himself, I Am That I Am, all in the present tense.
God didn't call Himself, I Was That I Was, because the past is past.
God didn't call Himself, I Will Be That I Will Be, because our future
will depend on our choices.
Jesus, is our prime example of living in the now. If Jesus allowed the
past hurts caused by the Jews to ruin each day, He would have put ashes
on His head and torn his clothes, much like Job or Jeremiah. If Jesus lived
in the future, He would have let His coming brutality of the scourging and
the cross, ruin each day He was here on earth.
Jesus took everything day by day, whatever the Father allowed to happen,
Jesus was ready for it. Jesus, more than any other human being, lived in the
now. He accepted everything as part of His journey and enjoyed life. We can
see this, in His sense of humor, when dealing with His disciples and the
Jewish hierarchy.
Jesus, as our example, showed us how to watch and pray. He showed
us how to deal with others. He taught us the value of a disciplined life. He
showed us how important God's Word is to our daily lives. Jesus, even
showed us how active God is, and involved in our daily lives.
Each day is a present from God. Live like you received a present!
