The path of least resistance is not the best path for a Christian. We don't
get the easy way out. Our life will be a struggle, we will constantly be at
odds, with Satan and the world.
We, as Christians, don't get to, go with the flow, because the flow will
take us down into oblivion, instead of soaring with the eagles. Eagles allow
the wind to lift them up, by flying into the breeze they get the lift under
their wings, without exerting any added effort.
God allows Christians to soar in, much the same way. The Holy Spirit
will keep us soaring, as God directs us, in our lives. When we fail, which
we will, we will have to work, to get back into the breeze of the Holy
Spirit. Just as an eagle has to flap his wings, to overcome gravity,
Christians have to work to overcome the pull of the world and Satan.
I love to watch eagles soar. The beauty of their seemingly endless
ability to hang in the air. I also love to watch, as Christians learn to soar,
as they become more reliant on the Holy Spirit in their lives. From
baptism to eternity, it is a constant struggle to stay soaring in a world filled
with downdrafts. If we keep our direction towards God, The Holy Spirit
will provide the power for us to soar above the world and do God's work,
without becoming part of the world. If we take our eyes off of God, and
change direction, the power of the Holy Spirit, looses its effect on us, and
we leave ourselves vulnerable to the pull of the world.
The world will never like us, because they feel inferior to us, not
because we act superior, they are just jealous of our soaring prowess.
