The finish line is what every racer, human, cars, motorcycles,
skateboard etc. looks for and strives for. As a Christian our finish line is
to be Christ like on earth. To reach this line, for even one day, is a great
achievement.
In the U.S.A. there is a Bureau of Weights and Measures as part of the
Commerce Dept. Here is where all of our standards for measurements
originate. This bureau is responsible for all our weights and measures of
uniformity across the U.S. They test scales, gasoline pumps, any
commodity that is sold by weight, fluid quantities, length and width, etc.
have to meet certain standards set forth by this Bureau.
Our Christian Bureau is Jesus Christ, He is whom we get tested against.
The world looks at us and measures us, by what they perceive as Christ's
standards. We, as Christians know, that Christ's standards are even harder
to achieve than what the world thinks.
Jesus Christ is perfection, the hardest goal to attain. All of us will fail to
reach this goal, in our Christianity, but our efforts to attain perfection, for
even one day, is a worthy and lofty goal.
In any competition there is a goal, it could be beating an opponent, a
bulls eye, a finish line. Our goal as Christians is to be like Christ. The
competition is not against the world or other Christians. The competition
is me against the perfection of Jesus Christ, with Jesus as the Judge.
We all struggle daily to reach this goal, because it is a goal that is
attainable, at least for a day, with the help of The Holy Spirit, and
Jesus Christ.
That, my friends, is a true mountain top experience. The problem with
mountain top experiences, that it's a long way down to the valley, and
Satan will help us to get there if we let him.
The God on the mountain top, is also The God of the valley!
