Love is commanded in the scriptures, people ask, how can this be, love is a
feeling.
Love is an action word, love your enemy, love one another, love others as
much as you love yourself. All of these actions of love are commanded.
Does that mean we can make a conscious decision to love.
Of course it does. Our western civilization has taken a beautiful thing and
classified it as a feeling that comes and goes with our emotions. I don't know
about you, but I'm glad our GOD doesn't work that way. In about 80% of the
world marriages are arranged, it was that way in the old testament and the new
also. In an arranged marriage the commitment to each other proceeds loving
each other. There is none of this, if it doesn't work out, I'll just file for divorce.
Commit to loving your enemies, and you will love them. Commit to loving
others and you will love others. Commit to loving yourself and you will quit
destroying yourself, and loving yourself will follow.
There is an old saying: Show me someone who falls in love
and I will show you someone who can fall out of love.
Show me someone committed to love
and I will show you a love for a lifetime.
OUR GOD IS COMMITTED TO LOVE.
SHOULDN'T WE BE?
