The Bible has always been a fascinating religious book. It doesn't
paint a perfect picture of God's chosen people, whether you are
talking about Israel or Christians. The world sees us as hypocrites,
because we can't live within God's guide lines. In fact, there are
times that I am such a failure, as a Christian, that I question the
All Mighty's plan for me to be His Ambassador to a lost and dying
world.
The Bible has no problems putting human weakness on display.
Adam and Eve in The Garden, the wickedness of man being so
bad that only one family was saved, Joseph's brothers selling him
into slavery and telling their father that Joseph died.
All of Israel's Great Kings had their faults. Saul with his temper,
David with Bathsheba, Solomon with his foreign wives, the list
goes on and on.
In the New Testament we read of Peter's temper and proud
statements, Judas's betrayal, Ananias & Sapphire and their lying,
James and John asking for the seats closest to Jesus in His kingdom,
the Fallen Churches in Revelation, to name a few.
We are told that all have fallen short of the Glory of God, in the
New Testament. We are shown throughout scripture that there is
only one perfect sacrifice, Jesus Christ.
One of my favorite illustrations
from scripture, is found in the book
of Amos. It talks about God holding
a plumb line up and using it to measure
Israel.
Christians don't measure up with that
plumb line either. The only person to
ever measure up to God's plumb line
is His Son, Jesus Christ.
We Christians, measure up to
God's plumb line, by holding on tightly
to the nail scared hands of Jesus, by
accepting Him as Lord and Savior and
being continually cleansed through His
Blood.
We are not hypocrites, Christians know
that the only difference, between us and
the world, is Jesus Christ. We will never be perfect. We will fail, not only
ourselves but those people around us.
The world is full of sinners, including you and I. While the world
dwells in their sin, Christians have chosen to be sinners, saved by the
grace of Jesus Christ.
While the world revels in their sin, Christians strive to be Christ like
while being washed in the Blood Of The Lamb.
