Friday The 13th

Friday the 13th has always had a different feel to it. Some of this is taught to
us by our families, some by our peers, and some is even taught in our schools. I
remember taking a class on, witchcraft and superstition, for English credits.
I don't remember the first time I heard my parents say "knock on wood" or the
first time I watched as my grandma used her right hand to toss salt over her left
shoulder. In fact Rachel Ray tosses salt over her left shoulder everyday on TV.
This are all derived from superstitions, but are still prevalent to this very day.
Friday the 13th falls into this category. It dates back to the first century and Good
Friday.
The Friday has to do with with the crucifixion of Christ. The 13 has to do with
with the 13 people at the last supper, one of which was Judas. There are all sorts
of superstitions related to 13, but 13 on a Friday, is supposed to be the ultimate
bad luck day.
As Christians we are not supposed to believe in witchcraft or superstition, but
I have found many that do superstitious things without even realizing that they
are doing it. Be careful, as a Christian, not to pass these ancient rituals onto your
children or others.
Jesus died after having dinner with 12 friends, one of whom betrayed him, and
then asked for forgiveness. That is a thing for all of us that have followed Christ.
Let's not let Satan use today for his benefit, let's use it for Christ and His Message.
