Taking Christianity Outside the Box

Taking Christianity outside the box of church and tradition, means walking alone,
a lot of times. Traditional Christians are afraid of you, non-christians don't know
what to do with you, but they know they don't like you.
When you take Christianity out of the friendly confines of church, and actually
put Christ's teachings into practice, you find out that religious and non-religious
don't understand you.
Jesus's greatest enemies were the religious leaders of His time. On one hand, they
were in awe of Jesus, with the power and conviction with which He spoke. On the
other hand, they were trying to figure out a way to rid themselves of Him, Jesus was
a giant pest, tearing down their traditions.
The New Testament is one battle after the other against norm. New Testament
Christianity calls for constant change, and most people want to have a comfort zone
to work with-in. Tradition is one of those comfort zones, and Jesus despised
tradition, because tradition is all about rules and regulations, instead of letting
God's Spirit, guide us.
If Jesus or His disciples in Acts felt compelled by The Spirit to go somewhere or
to do something, they did it. It didn't matter what day of the week it was. They
would not debate with themselves about helping others, regardless of whether it
was the Sabbath or not.
And yet, we have debates in our own minds, about what to do. You are driving
to church and see a car broke down on the side of the road, a lady and two small
children are wondering outside the car. A traditionalist fills the pull to continue onto
church, a Christian reacts to the situation.
Christianity, is a situational, ever changing, walk with Christ. Christians don't have
normal days, traditionalists and religious people have normal days. Pharisees had
normal days. Sadducees had normal days. People that are led by The Holy Spirit,
live in the moment. It is both a scary and an exciting life, learning to listen to the
Spirits leading.
The only limit on Christianity is YOU. Living moment by moment, with the Holy
Spirit leading, takes getting used to. As you become more aware of His leading and
as your confidence grows, The Holy Spirit will lead you more and more.
You will give your testimony of how The Spirit is working in your life, and both
Christians and non-christians will look at you like you are crazy. It takes
unbelievable courage to be different. It takes Faith beyond measure. You will
endure hardship and pain, from both friends and foes, because they won't
understand you. You will stand out in a crowd.
Spirit controlled people I look up to: Jesus, John the Baptist, Peter, Stephen,
Paul, James, Elijah, Elisha, Daniel, Esther, Deborah, Phoebe. I want to walk
in the Spirit, no matter the cost. I want to stand out for Jesus.
