The pace of our daily lives is maddening at times, we
rush from one place to the other. We are constantly, go,
go, go. Sometimes we feel like the hamster at the pet store
running and running in a wheel of our own making and
never getting anywhere.
We have appointments, children have to go here and there,
work, chores, we barely have time to sit still. Our cars are
filled with fast food sacks to be thrown away, when we get
time. Snack wrappers, in the ash tray, when we don't have
time for a meal.
Not only does our life suffer, our spiritual life suffers.
There is a reason GOD put a " Day of Rest " into HIS
plan. It wasn't for GOD'S SAKE, but for ours. GOD knew
we could work ourselves to death. GOD knew we could
get so busy, we would not have family time together,
and no, driving heather and yon on our wheel of life
doesn't count as family time
A sure sign that you are on the wheel to nowhere, is
when your driving and your spouse or children ask you
if you saw something. You answer no, I'm driving.
As a truck driver I can tell you it is real easy to get tunnel
vision, and only see what is in front of you. We need to take
in the big picture, whether driving, working, or in our home
life. That big picture tells us everything, that is going on
around us, front, behind us and to the side. There is always
something new to see in this beautiful world, if we slow
down enough to see it.
When is the last time as a family, you were together with
no where to go?
When was the last time you looked up at the clouds and
saw the shapes in them and everyone named them?
When was the last time you sat still to watch a sunrise
or a sunset?
When was the last time you really looked into the eyes
of your spouse and saw how marvelous they are?
When was the last time you really noticed how much
your children were changing?
All of these things can catch us by surprise sometimes.
Slow down a little, just absorb nature and all GOD has
put here for our viewing pleasure. Slow down and enjoy
your family.
PLEASE, GET OFF THAT WHEEL OF LIFE,
THAT GOES TO NOWHERE. GET THE BIG PICTURE,
LIFE WILL BE MORE ENJOYABLE, I PROMISE.
