Make Each Day Special!

God gives us a present every single day. when we open our eyes. If your eyes
open, God has given you another day to help change someones life. Another
day to laugh, to sing, to smile, another day to help someone else do the same.
God promised each of his Children an abundant life, a life that is filled up and
overflowing with everything God has created. A lot has to do with our approach to
life. We can dread life, which automatically puts a damper on everything we say
and do or we can look for the fun and joy in everything we do.
When we start to look for the fun in our jobs, in our chores, in our life, then we
can begin to see the world with different eyes. Every chore, every job, begins to
be a way with sharing with each other. An opportunity to share God with the world,
in a way that is neither threatening or scary, but simply conversation.
It is not very difficult to bring God into conversations when you are looking for
the good and fun, in everything you do. But it is extremely difficult, when we are
sitting there with a frown on our face and grumpy. Besides who wants to worship
a God, that lets His people feel like that.
I am not saying Christians should never have a down day, because we are human,
that have emotions, depression, grieving, sadness, can affect us at any time. While
those are a part of life, in general, I think Christians should be the happiest people
on the face of the earth.
We have a Heavenly Father that loves us, unconditionally. We have a brother,
friend, advocate, and Savior in Jesus Christ, that loves us, died for us, and now
lives for us and protects us. We have The Holy Spirit, who also loves us, comforts
us in times of trials, and not only dwells in us but also pours His Blessings over us.
Luke 6:38 tells us that if we give, it will be returned to us, pressed down, shaken
and overflowing. That is not only talking about physical things, but also about
sharing and giving all that we have spiritually also. Telling others about our Lord and
Savior, has returns for us beyond measure.

Friendly Fire

Friendly fire, is one of the most tragic circumstances of war. It is an accident,
caused, when people try to guess which way other people are going to move.
When any military action is to take place, part of the planning stage, is to lay
out a action and re-action plan. The reason for this, is to cut down on casualties
and deaths, including those from friendly fire.
Every battle plan estimates: personnel needed, equipment needed, supplies
needed, estimated casualties, estimated deaths, estimated re-inforcements to
complete the mission. A part of a battle plan is casualties and deaths by friendly
fire, these too have to be figured in with all the other estimates.
In Christianity, we are in a constant battle with evil, both with-in us and forces
outside of us. God is in control of the ultimate outcome, but as human beings, we
get to make choices. Some of those choices effect the ever changing battle plan,
but the conclusion of the war, between good and evil was decided at the cross and
ultimately God wins.
Friendly fire, among Christians, is part of the battle plan, and it is a tragedy of
war. Gossip and rumors, are part of that friendly fire. We have no idea how tragic
our words can be, they can cause pain, they can cause splits in churches, and yes,
they can cause spiritual and physical death at times. I am not saying this is
intentional, friendly fire seldom is, but our words can assist in the death of others,
both in the physical realm, suicide, and spiritual death, turning against God.
The real problem is Christians, turning a casualty into a death. This is a most
critical time in someones life, and one rumor or one gossip, can change a casualty
into a death. We all have times when we are vulnerable, these are times when a
positive or negative word can be an anchor or a floatation device.
That is why James, the brother of Jesus, tells us to control our tongues. Our
words can lift someone up, or drown them. Christians, especially, need to be
aware of what they say and when. Christians need to choose their words wisely.
We have the ability to both; bring healing, and cut like a razor, with our tongues
Bringing up someones faults, when they are struggling is a delicate surgery, that
can lead to them being a healthy Christian again or wound them even worse.
We all sin, we all fall short, but if we can keep the friendly fire casualties to a
minimum, we will have more companions in our battle against evil.

Healing

Healing is still a part of the Holy Spirits work, but it's a part that
many Christians are afraid of. Paul in 1 Corinthians 12, talks about
gifts, that different members of The Church are blessed with.
We, in the Church are to act as One Body. Can you imagine 600
preachers competing for time behind the pulpit or to many teachers
in one classroom. Those things may sound funny, especially for any
of us that have been around the church for any length of time.
This would be the same as multi-headed or having octopus arms
on the body of the church. It might make a great horror film, but
definitely not what God has planned for His church. The same can
be said for healers in The Church.
First off, I am not talking about TV evangelists, I am talking about
people, in the Body of Christ, that have a special gift, from the Holy
Spirit. Some, because their faith is stronger than others in The Church,
are still given, or maybe a better word would be, are better able to tap
into the power of The Holy Spirit.
These people don't do it for fame or glory, but when they feel led by
God to pray for someone, to put oil on someone and join with others in
prayer, the power of the Holy Spirit is allowed to work in miraculous
ways. These people are better conduits of God's Power.
This does not make a healer, preacher, teacher, or any other part of
the Body of Christ any more or less important. We need all the Gifts of
The Spirit manifested in every congregation. If we have a manifestation
of the Holy Spirit missing in the Body of Christ, we are operating under
a handicap concerning Spiritual Warfare.
As we read through First Corinthians 12 it is easy to see how Satan
uses our Spiritual strengths and weaknesses to disrupt the work of
The Body of Christ. We need to work as an elite fighting force for
our Master, Jesus Christ. We need all of The Gifts of The Holy Spirit
working as one, well oiled machine, for God's Glory.
Do you know your Spiritual Gift?
Do you know how to use your Spiritual Gift in conjunction with
other peoples Spiritual Gifts? In other words, Do you play well with
others?
We can't all be Chaplains, Generals, Medics, Surgeons, in God's
Army. In fact, most of us will be the privates, corporals, and sergeants,
in the Body of Christ. All of us are important, in fact, the workers,
the privates, corporals, and sergeants in any service, make it possible
for the those with special training and skills, to do their jobs better.
We do all this for God's Glory! Amen

Flashback Music

I went to Ozark Bible College in Joplin Missouri in 1979. I came
home and got married to my wife of 34 years or at least it will be,
next month. Needless to say, I remember a lot of great Christian music
from that era.
While I was at school we had quite a few big name Christian artists
come through town Joplin, Mo. So today, for a change, Christian
artists I saw in concert in 1979 & 80.

                                                                         Carmen

                                                                  The Imperials

                                                                       Benny Hester

                                                                  Andrus Blackwood & Co.

I hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane with me. There
is nothing like good Christian music to focus our minds on our
Creator. I pray that these Oldies but Goodies have done that
for you.

Give Me Old Time Religion

   A lot of Christians
 are ashamed of our
 roots. They've grown
 up in fancy buildings,
 with air-conditioning
 and preachers that may
 be great speakers, but
 The church has lost that
 Holy Ghost Spirit
 burning in their belly.

People used to walk miles to get to a tent revival. Depending on the speaker,
some would travel for days and camp out around the revival area, until the
Revival was concluded.

God's word hasn't changed, God hasn't changed, in fact, those that are lost
and have that emptiness inside of their lives, haven't changed. They are still
hungry to fill that void in their lives, that only God can fill.

Christian's have changed! Christians have decided that they are tired of being
outcasts, different, persecuted by the world around them. I'm not talking about
all Christians, but for a vast majority, they have become a part of the world.
Jesus told the people of His day, and is still proclaiming to us, in todays church,
"If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto Me!" That has never meant, The Church,
will draw people to Jesus Christ, by being more like the world.

Look at your Facebook, My Space, Google + or any other social network that
you and your friends use. Look at the postings from both your Christian and
your non-christian friends.
Is there a difference in their posts?
Is Jesus Christ lifted up, so that men can be drawn to Him?
Or have Christians become so worldly, that you can't tell any more?

    We used to understand
 the separation from the
 world, that was necessary
for us to reach the world
 for Christ, and not become
 a part of the world.

Today, I think, the world doesn't see Jesus Christ in us, but the world sees a
reflection of itself. Instead of the saving grace, that can only be found in
Jesus Christ, the world is seeing less and less of a difference between the modern
church and itself.

The Church, the people that belong to The Church, should stand out from the
crowd. Jesus told us in The Sermon On the Mount, how to stand out in the crowd.
In fact Jesus told us, The Church, that our Happiness, our Blessedness depends on
us being different.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons[a] of God.
10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.http://www.biblegateway.com  Matt. 5:3-12 ESV

These Blessings come with the price of being different, standing out from
the crowd.
If your morals and faith are the same as the worlds, you are on a wide path,
perdition is your destination.
If there are very few traveling with you and you feel as if you are dodging
stones and arrows, you are on the right path, and Jesus walks beside you.

My Reluctant Hero

                               RESUME of ACTIVITIES
                          U.S.S. WILLIAM R. RUSH (DD-714)
                               7 January to 19 June, 1951
On 29 May the RUSH departed Sasebo as a unit of Task Force 95
and arrived off the east coast of Korea on 30 May. The RUSH was
assigned duties as the bomb line destroyer off the front lines and
operated vigorously in direct support of U.N. troops ashore.
Bombardments were conducted on 33 separate occasions
expending hundreds of rounds of ammunition on various targets such
as towns, bridges, bivouac areas, railroads, motorized transport, direct
support of troops and interdiction firing.
On two occasions the RUSH assisted friendly troops to escape
"miniature Dunkerques" from the beaches into sampans and junks
when the troops were overwhelmed by larger forces. This was
possible as a result of accurate and heavy fire into the enemy ranks.
The enemy was forced to retire inland.
On those occasions the RUSH treated many badly wounded troops
who were evacuated.
On the night of 6-7 June the RUSH had targets assigned to assist
friendly troops repulsing a large enemy attack on the front lines. The
devastating and accurate fire delivered brought praises from all quarters.
It is said that when communist troops leave their rice behind they are
really in a hurry. That particular night they left everything behind. The
firing at times was as close as 150 yards from our own troops. The
efforts of the RUSH produced such spectacular results that the
Commanding General of the 11th ROK Division, Brigadier General
Oh Duk Jun, at his own request, came aboard and presented the ship
with scrolled citations from the 13th Regiment and 11th Division
Commanders. This ceremony took place on board ship off shore at
the front lines.

My Dad, George Akers Jr., was the Fire Controlman(FC) on the
USS William R. Rush(RUSH) for these operations. Not only did the
Rush receive scrolled citations, but my Dad received a signed
Commendation letter from Harry S. Truman, President of the United
States of America.
My Dad's duties, during this operation, were the control of various
forms of range finding gear, and solving ballistic calculations to control
the firing of the ships guns.

My Dad, like a lot of people that have done military service for this
country, never talked about his time in the military. We always had his
Navy picture on the wall of our house, as well as a picture of the
USS Laffey, which was another Naval Destroyer my Dad was on during
his tour of duty.

My sisters and I found these

things out about my Dad, as we
were going through my Mom's
cedar chest, after Dad passed away.
We found my Dad's medals and
The Commendation Letter for my
Dad's skills as a Fire Controlman
and his accuracy, that saved
countless lives.

As we remember those that have

passed away, this Memorial Day
weekend. Let's remember all the
Reluctant Heroes. Those Heroes we
only find out about, after they're gone.

Memorial Day Tribute

God: The One Supreme Being, The Creator and Ruler of
                 the Universe.
Liberty: Freedom from external or foreign rule, freedom.
Freedom: The power or right to act, speak or think as one wants
                  without hindrance or restraint.
Patriotism: Devoted love, support and defense of one's country.

This country was founded on God, Liberty, Freedom, and
Patriotism, these are attributes that our Founding Fathers built
into this countries landscape before we were a Sovereign Nation.
This and all Memorial Days, are a time to reflect on God and
His Blessings on this country, that we are privileged to live in. It
is a time to reflect on God's warnings about wars and rumors of
wars, that are a constant threat to the liberty and freedoms that we,
in this country, cherish so much.
In the many battles that have been fought, in and for this country,
Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, is constantly, a goal,
worthy of our pursuit, and many men and women have given their
lives and parts of their bodies to chase that goal and preserve that
goal, for every citizen in this United States of America.
We, at times, may talk about battles and wars and debate whether
they were just or unjust, right or wrong for this great country, we have
the privilege to live in. Those debates should be set aside for this
weekend, because this weekend is a time to remember friends, family
and all the men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifice for this
country.
This is also a time to remember all those, whose lives have been
forever changed by what they experienced, saw and felt, while they
were fighting for the U.S.A. It is easy for us to forget that while
military personal, may physically leave the battle field, the battle
field doesn't always leave them. I pray God will help them find peace!
This Memorial Day Weekend, When you see this countries flag,
put your right hand over your heart and say a prayer for this country.
With all the turmoil and terrorism in this world, we need God's
Guiding Hands, to hold onto us and lead us, more than ever.
To all our military personal, our first responders, and any one else
that puts their lives on the line, day in and day out, for the citizens
of this United States of America. Whether you were drafted or are
part of our voluntary forces, men and women like you, keep this
country safe, for the rest of us.
Freedom comes at a very expensive price, we only hold onto it,
at the expense of the blood, sweat, and tears of the men and women
of our armed forces and the sacrifice of their families.
As a citizen of this United States of America I say,
THANK YOU!, THANK YOU!,  THANK YOU!

Dare to be Different

Being different, standing out in a crowd, is what gets people's
attention. Jesus knew that, The Apostles knew that, but I don't think
modern Christianity is comfortable with that notoriety.
You see, being different leads down one of two paths. People will
either love you, because your different or hate you, because your
different. There is no middle ground. Being different, causes people
to make a choice. Love me or hate me, because I am different. I am
called to be different, because I follow Christ.
Jesus used two basic elements, when talking about His brothers and
sisters, His Church and about how different we are supposed to be.
First, Jesus calls His people to be "The Salt" of the earth. Salt stands
out from every other seasoning and spice. Every other seasoning and
spice we add to our food is for flavor, for scent, for aroma. Salt does
none of these.
Salt has no scent or aroma. Salt, by itself, tastes a little bitter with a
distinct bite to it. Use salt in any recipe, in just the right amount, and all
the other flavors, scents, and aromas are enhanced, food tastes better.
Jesus refers to us, His People, as salt. We are supposed to make
life different for those, we come in contact with. We are supposed to
enhance and enrich peoples lives with The Good News of Jesus Christ.
If we just blend in, with the rest of society, without enhancing and
enriching peoples lives with Jesus Christ, then we are like salt that has
lost its taste. Luke 14:34-35, tells us that salt that has lost its flavor, is
not good for anything but being tossed on a dunghill.
Secondly, Jesus calls Himself "The Light of the World." We, His
People, are supposed to reflect His Light. Once again, we can not
reflect the Light of Christ, by blending in with the world we live in.
A light is not very useful, unless it can be seen. That is why we put
lights on ceilings, to light up a room. That is why light houses are
taller than surrounding buildings, so their light can shine and be seen
by ships, as the light reflects off the rocks.
We want people to know who we are and what we believe. People,
at the right time, will be drawn to us.
Not because of who we are, but because of Who we reflect in our lives.
Not because of what we've done, but because of what Jesus Christ has
done in our lives.
When you are willing to be different, opportunities for Christ to shine
in you and through you, will happen.
When Christ is allowed to shine in our lives, people will notice. You
may have a stranger walk up to you and ask, are you a Christian?
There's something different about you.
You may have someone at work, walk up to you and say, I know your a
Christian, I need you to pray for my wife, she's dying with cancer.
Dare to be Different, God will bless you for it!
Dare to be Different, So that others see Christ in you!

Resting in the Arms of Christ

In this day and age, we live in, sleep deprivation affects one-third
of the people in the United States. This epidemic courses through our
population, from children to the aged, from teens to adults, sleep is
becoming a lost art.
Sleep deprivation is one of the major causes for illness in this country
but has been quickly spreading to the rest of the world, over the last
few years.
World-wide 65% of the population gets six and half hours of sleep
or less, while 7 to 9 hours is recommended by health providers. Less
than seven hours sleep, leads to illness, immune deficiencies, high
blood pressure, heart disease, and strokes. We are too busy, for too long,
for too many hours of the day, that we have trouble relaxing and getting
a good nights sleep.
This is especially true with our cell phones and mobile devices.
We leave them on, with notification alarms, because we are afraid that
we will miss something, somewhere. Not only is the sleep deprivation
killing us, but people talking on cell phones and texting are causing
harm to themselves and others, add a vehicle to that and death rates
climb rapidly.
We are more informed today, but at what cost. Our hospitals and
ER's are overcrowded, our sick days are up, we are less attentive to
details, and all of us suffer in one form or another. We are either
buying goods made by distracted and tired people or we are selling
goods made by distracted and tired people. As consumers, we all share
this responsibility with each other.
We, you and I, are the temple of the Holy Spirit. It is up to each of us
to keep our Temple in good working order, so that we can give of our
best to The Master. Sleep is an important part of our healing process. It
allows our mind and bodies to recuperate from our day to day activities.
We can't give our best to The Master, our family, our job, our friends,
our ministry, or anything else, if we don't get our sleep.
We need to learn how to shut down for the evening. There is a process
we all go through for proper sleep. Relaxing and slowing down our
thought processes a few hours before bed, is a must. Stop worrying about
tomorrow, because as Jesus said, "Don't be anxious" about tomorrow.
Start ending your day by casting all your worries and care upon
Jesus. Cast your tomorrow onto His shoulders also. Turn your mind off,
turn your eyes towards Jesus, lean on His shoulders, and as He wraps His
loving arms around you, drift off to sleep, resting in the arms of Christ.

Investing in People

Investing in people, helping them find self-worth, helping them get
their priorities set, helping them overcome their addictions and their
hang-ups in life, isn't throwing money at the problem but instead, it
is investing time and energy into people.
Our modern day society, thinks the quick fix, is to throw enough
money at a problem, and those we are trying to help will figure out how
to best use that money. Throwing money at a people problem, without
spending time and energy to help them address their hurts, hang-ups
and addictions, is like flushing money down a toilet. The money will
be gone, and people are left in the same situation they started in, alone
and helpless.
The Pharisees and the Sadducees of Jesus time, would put on a big
show of giving money to the poor and needy, so that man would praise
them for their generosity and Jesus ridiculed them with a little story, we
call, The Good Samaritan. You could throw all the money you want
at a dying man in the streets and he will still die or you can pick him up
and carry him to a treatment facility and he will get well and hopefully
help others.
Investing in others takes time and energy, but the rewards are far
greater than silver and gold. Teachers, get this thrill every time they see
a child catch onto an idea or concept in school. For those of us that
invest our time and energy helping others, the reward is the same. We
get the thrill of watching lives change, right before our eyes.
To see an addict, with clear eyes, with track marks starting to heal
and a genuine smile on their face. To take an old air conditioning unit
and installing it in someones home, so they can survive 100 degree
days with 100% humidity. To help people get food and clothing, so
they can survive one more week.
As a Christian, get involved with local help organizations, charities,
homeless shelters. Get your hands involved in helping others learn to
help themselves. I have never met any of these groups and organizations
that don't need volunteers to help in the community.
Jesus ministry was never about money, He trusted God to supply His
and His Disciples needs. Jesus ministry was in the streets, helping others,
teaching others, healing others.
He call on us, His people, to do the same. Jesus calls on us to go to
the streets, in our communities, in our cities, in our countries and help
others, teach others about a different way to live, and to help others
find the healing that only Jesus Christ can provide in their lives.
People need to see Jesus, every time they look at us!

Peace

Peace is one of God's greatest blessings, to those that follow Him.
Paul calls it peace beyond understanding. David wrote the 23rd Psalm
about it. Paul and Silas after a beating and being put in stocks, in a
cell, sang about it.
Some of our greatest hymns and music in Christendom are about this
very unusual peace, that envelopes a believer, in the worst of times, in
our lowest valleys. It is Well, Peace in the Valley, Peace like a River,
just to name a few of these precious hymns.
This peace is a gift from God, in our times of struggle, in our sorrow,
in the deepest and darkest valleys and tests of our life. Though we are
walking in the midst of Satan's demons, there is a peace, because we
know that God is not only with us, but that God is protecting us, until
it is time for us to go home with Him.
David Wilkerson wrote The Cross and the Switchblade, about His
ministry to the street gangs of New York City. One of the cruelest and
meanest people that he met in this ministry was Nicki Cruz, the Sargent
at Arms and Chief Enforcer of the Mau Maus.
Nicki was running from God, from the police and from rival gangs,
when he has a confrontation with David. Nicki pulls out a switchblade
knife and tells David, "I'll cut you into a million pieces preacher." What
happened to David in that moment, in that very instant of time, is amazing.
David in the book describes this crazed kid, with fire and hate in his
eyes. David describes Nicki in his flaming red Mau Mau jacket with the
knife out in front of him, slashing at the air. David says a peace fell over
him, as he answered Nicki.
"Nicki, you may cut me into a million pieces, and everyone of those
pieces will tell you, that Jesus Loves you, Nicki."
Nicki put the knife away and continued running. That confrontation
changed Nicki Cruz. A few years later he became a Christian and worked
with David Wilkerson in what would become Teen Challenge. Later Nicki
started Nicki Cruz Outreach.
We have choices to make everyday of our lives. We can live in fear
of telling others about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Fear brings
with it, pain, worry and suffering. Or
We can live in this unbelievable peace, beyond our understanding, that
continually gives us boldness and strength, as we proclaim the Gospel
of Christ. This peace that passes all understanding, comes at a price, it
is not cheap and it is not free. This peace comes when we are 100%
sold out for Jesus Christ. Then just like the poem, Footprints in the Sand,
Jesus carries us through our trials and our tribulations.
We have the security and the comfort of being held in the arms of
Christ. There is not a better feeling in this world, than that!

Focused Prayer

Focused prayer takes time. We need to take time to slow down our
thought processes and bring all of us, body, soul, mind, and spirit
into a common purpose, focusing on God.
We each have to develop, our own unique approach to the throne of
God. Some of the common things that people do to prepare for focused
prayer, involve Bible reading, worship, meditating on the Word, getting
away by yourself, closing doors and windows(if your inside)etc. These
things allow us to focus on our visit with God, before His thrown.
When people get an invitation to visit, The Queen of England, they
don't grab their work clothes and go visit. They prepare themselves to
enter the presence of The Queen. They are bathed, they are properly
dressed, and they have practiced their curtsy, if a woman, or bow, if
a man, so that they are prepared for The Queen.
There is nothing wrong with rushed prayers, or hurried prayers, these
too have their place, in our lives, but at least once or twice a week, we
need to totally focus on time alone with God.
We can see in scripture that Jesus would do these focused prayers
often before anyone else got up. Mark 1:35 is an example of Jesus
getting up early and going out to a lonely place to pray for a while.
Develop a routine that helps you bring your mind into focus on God.
for me, that means time reading God's Word, either singing praises or
listening to praise music, and then quieting myself down and not only
speaking to God, but, allowing Him to speak to me.
You may fix a place up for your focused prayers. I knew a minister
that changed a walk-in closet into his prayer closet. It had a small desk
and chair, with His favorite old Bible on the desk. There were pillows
and cushions for the floor. He told me that he wanted to be able to pray
prostrate on the floor, kneeling, or sitting depending on what God lead
him to do that day.
Praying with a focus on a particular subject or wanting God to show
you His plans for the coming days. Helps us, as His People, to keep our
focus on God and His kingdom, and takes our focus off of ourselves.
"Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the
things of earth, will grow strangely dim.
In the light of His Glory and Grace."

Believe

What we believe, has a drastic effect on how we live. This fact does
not change, whether you believe in a god or not. If you believe that
this short 70 years or so, is all you have, then what difference does it
make, whether you live a good life or not.
We can see this mentality acted out in our society everyday. People
living for their own pleasure, some without thinking about anyone
but themselves. This mentality, makes it easy to rob, steal, embezzle,
murder and harm others, because it is all about me and what I want
above all else.
It is one thing to believe in yourself and quite another to believe that
everything is for your taking and benefit.
God, in the Old Testament, set up rules to live by, for His people.
They were to help each other, you can see this into the New Testament,
people that were injured or had infirmities, would beg along the busy
streets and roads. God's laws obligated Jewish society, to take care of
these people.
God's laws also created a society that treated their slaves differently
than other cultures. God strived to create a society, that thought about
the less fortunate, the oppressed, not by force, but as an act of love
towards their fellow man.
We see this same attribute of God, carried out in the New Testament,
as we watch Jesus interact with the people. Jesus believed in himself,
we can see this in statements that He made, I and The Father are One
and No man comes to The Father but by Me.
When we truly believe in The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit,
when we realize that there is more to this life, after death, that eternity
is prepared and waiting on us, living to help others becomes a way of
life.
I Believe Jesus Christ lived His entire life for my benefit and for your
benefit. He is our example of how to live for others.
I Believe Jesus Christ gave His life for your sake and for my sake, in
our place, on Calvary.
I Believe I have a debt to Jesus, that can never be repaid.
I Believe living my life to help others, to be there for others, to visit
others, to pray with others is what God calls us to do.
     I Believe!

Dust on The Bible

You can tell a lot about people, just by walking into their homes,
first impressions leave a lasting memory.
You may walk into a home and there are children's toys everywhere,
but you can also hear the laughter of the children while they are playing.
That will leave a lasting impression of a happy home, even if that is not
always the case with that home.
It used to be that almost every home you entered, had a big family
Bible. prominently displayed in the middle of a coffee table, right
in front of the sofa. Some were left open to favorite scriptures, some
were closed, and some even open to the pictures of the great artwork
from days gone by.
The love and respect people showed to these old Bibles, said a lot
about where their faith was. If there was a lot of dust on that Old Bible,
it meant that no one had paid any attention to it. Not even to dust it off
once in a while. You could make the assumption that the family hadn't
sat together on the sofa in quite a while, otherwise especially with
children, the Bible would have been used by little hands looking at the
pictures.
As I sit here writing this blog, I can remember times, when my Bible
sat and collected lots of dust. I would get lazy and quit reading God's
Word. Then my prayer life goes away, and I'm left to fight Satan, on my
own. Which, we all know is a battle, I can't win.
I was asked earlier today about, why I still use my Bible, it is easier and
faster to use the internet to find things in scripture.
My answer was: There is a comfort for me, holding onto a Bible. Holding
onto something with a little weight, a little thickness. It's like that feeling
of curling up in front of a fire with a good book, or in this case, The Good
Book, the Bible.
The Bible has the capabilities of being like an old familiar blanket or
an old familiar pillow. You can snuggle up with your Bible and feel the
loving arms of the Savior wrap around you, as you read His Word!

Happy Mother's Day

At the time of this writing, Mother's Day is tomorrow, Sunday. As
a tribute to all mothers, I'd like to tell you a family tale.
My grandmother, Beulah Lawler, was the closest to God, of any
one I know on this earth and I have ever been around. You could be
anywhere with grandma and it would be like a jolt of lightening hit
her and the next words out of her mouth were, thank you, Jesus. She
was as close to a saint as I've ever seen on earth. I miss her guidance,
but I know I will always have her love. I still feel her at times, telling
me what God wants me to do next. Thank You, Grandma.
My mom went through a lot of tough times, but being raised by
grandma, seeing grandma handle things as a Christian woman was
something that my mom always fell back on. She raised us kids in a
good Christian home with the only man she ever loved. Thanks Mom.
I'm luckier than most men, because I have a mother-in-law that has
been a second mom to me for over 30 yrs. From the time that Sandy
and I became a couple, she has always been there with advice, and a
good home cooked meal. When my mom passed away, my other mom
was right there to help me through it. I am truly blest to have a second
mom that loves me as much as my mom. Thank You Mom.
The last mother in this tribute is my wife. I have been married to her
for 33 yrs. and in that time I've watched her take in foster children and
love and care for them as if they would be with hers forever. I've watched
as she and I raised our daughter, through good times and struggles. I have
never seen anyone handle, not only what was going on in her own life but
what was going on in our daughters life at the same time. I know our
daughter will have her hands full, with our angel of a grand-daughter. I
am also sure that our daughter will love her, as much as my wife continues
to love our daughter.
                                                                                   Thank You Babe
                                                                           and Thank You to Mothers
                                                                                  EVERYWHERE

                        HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

This was one of My Mom's favorite songs that I sang for her!

Walking the Tightrope

Walking a tightrope is one of the most dangerous occupations anyone
could have. A one inch strand of wire between you and the ground, all
while suspended 30, 60, 100 or more feet in the air. The greats on the
high wire, tell people it's a matter of keeping your eye on your target.
That target being the other platform. Taking your eye off the target, will
get you killed. Looking down will get you killed.
Paul talks about this concept as a race, where we keep our eyes on the
prize, Jesus Christ. Because, after all isn't that our ultimate goal, to be
Christ like, to be formed into the image of Christ.
To accomplish this goal, we must feed ourselves with the Word of
God. Our ultimate nourishment for our spiritual selves, is to feast on
God's Word, The Bible. The more we know of God's Word, the better
equipped we are to face the challenges of life, that will surely come our
way. Part of being Spiritually in shape, is feeding the soul with God's
nourishment.
Practice is another important part of getting prepared to walk the
tightrope of life. Use all the talent that God has given you, on a daily
basis. Letting our talents rust, instead of using them, will get them
taken away, much like the servant that buried his talent. After we have
fed ourselves on God's Word, we need to practice sharing God's Word
with others. This will not be comfortable at first, that's why a tightrope
walker practices at ground level, before they learn to fly on the high
wire. Get into the habit of being open with everyone about this wonder-
ful Savior that you have found.
The better you get with spreading God's Word, the more God will
open up doors of faith, for you to walk through. As you continue to
feed your spirit and The Holy Spirit with the vital nourishment of God.
God's lifeline will start to get farther and farther off the ground, as
you continue to trust in God and The Word. I still get chills whenever
I talk to others about Jesus Christ, I want to feel the Spirit moving with
every word. I still get chills, when the Spirit is using me to write these
blogs on a daily basis. I know that what I am saying is going to bless
some people, convict some people, start the healing process in some
people.
As long as we keep our eyes on Jesus Christ, we will not fall, we
will not fail, and Jesus Christ will be Glorified with our service to
The King of Kings, The Lord of Lords, Our Mighty God! Amen

My Father's Eyes

I was raised in a family with a mom and a dad, just as most families
used to be. I was raised in a Christian home, and like most homes, our
family was a little strange at times. I remember learning to read in school
and coming home and reading a Dick and Jane book to my dad. In the
book, Dick and Jane called their mom, Mother, and their dad, Father. I
asked my dad about calling him Father.
My dad took me into his lap and held me close, he said, "I am your dad,
we, in this family only have one Father, and He lives in Heaven." So my
dad was always dad, but I also remember the look in my dad's eyes as
He told me about Our Father.
My dad's eyes would midst over, whenever he talked about God and
this country that he loved and had fought for in the Korean War. My dad
taught me to see things, to look at things, with the eyes of God. My dad
would help perfect strangers, pick up hitch hikers, do whatever he could
for people, but my dad also never missed a chance to bring God into a
conversation. My dad has been in Heaven, for a while now, but he
live on in me, and I want to pass those lessons on to others.
I am sure that is why, I find it easy to relate to people, no matter the
circumstance. I've been able to witness to people on the streets, under
bridges, and where ever I may find them. I have been able to hug and
pray with people, that haven't had baths in weeks. When I was driving
truck, before my injuries, if I had extra shower points on my fuel cards,
I would take them into the truck stop and get them a shower. It was
always nice to hear them talk about how normal they felt after a shower.
My dad taught me how to look at people, with the compassion of
Christ. I could look past where they are in life, to where they could be
in life. People are just people, no matter whether they are on the streets,
in recovery facilities, in homeless shelters, or just having trouble at
home. We can see this in the New Testament, and the way Jesus treated
harlots, lepers, beggars, and the street people of His day.
Jesus knew that His Father created everyone, regardless of their present
situation or circumstance. Jesus showed us how to look at people with the
eyes of God. Isn't that what we want people to see, every time we get
face to face with them. We don't want them to see us, with all our faults
and short comings, we want them to see Jesus in us. We want them to
look into our eyes, and see Our Father's Eyes,
Eyes full of compassion, able to feel and relate to their pain. Eyes that
bring hope to the hopeless, truth to those that are seeking an answer to
life, that can only be found in Jesus Christ. People should see the love
of God in our eyes, not pity. People should look at us and see Jesus,
because for some, we are the only Jesus, they will ever see.

The Cost of Believing

The cost, the price, paid for every believer, was paid in
full at the cross. Jesus Christ’s death on the cross and every
drop of His precious blood, paid the price for sin.For all of
eternity everyones freedom from sin was bought.
Our only repayment, for the sacrifice that Jesus paid, is to
accept Him as Lord and Savior, that is just the beginning of
our service to the King of Kings. Jesus wants all of me. Jesus
wants all of you. The more of ourselves, we give, the greater
our freedom from sin.
The price of serving Jesus is different for everyone,
depending on what each of us is called to give. Some of us
will face ridicule and persecution, some of us will face execution,
some have watched and prayed as their family was taken from
them. Jesus never promised us an easy road, but He did
promise that He would walk with us every step of the way.
Only John, the apostle, lived to die of old age. The others Apostles
were all killed in one grisly way or another. Peter was crucified
upside down because he requested it. Peter didn’t consider
himself worthy of dying like Christ. Most of the apostles were
beheaded for their faith.
This still goes on today, people can choose to renounce
Christianity and live or continue to believe in Christ and die.
While most of us will never be faced with this gruesome choice,
still we must be prepared for it. We never know when our lives
might be required for The Masters service.
